INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Program: Science Communications Intern

Location: San Juan, PR – Hybrid
Term: June 12, 2023 – February 12, 2024
Stipend: $650/week + $1,000 monthly for housing
Deadline: April 15, 2023

Description:
“This position is part of a cohort of 20 climate change-focused internships that will receive specialized training & opportunities to engage with other members of the cohort. ​​This position will be developing & sharing US Virgin Islands-relevant communications for the USDA Caribbean Climate Hub. The position would be primarily virtual & work from the USVI, meeting at least weekly with the Puerto Rico based staff of the USDA Caribbean Climate Hub.”

Responsibilities:
-Co-develop USDA Caribbean Climate Hub educational resources.
-Identify resources, relevant literature, key experts & examples of climate adaptation & mitigation on USVI agriculture & forestry for Caribbean Climate Hub Adaptation Workbook, climate literacy modules.
-Contribute USVI-relevant communications to CCH pages (events, news).
-Represent USDA Caribbean Climate Hub at agricultural & forestry-related events in USVI via information tables.
-Create inventory of key stakeholders, farming operations, associations, nonprofits in USVI related to agriculture & forestry.

Qualifications:
-BA degree from an accredited institution.
-Writing & communications skills.
-Familiarity with the US Virgin Islands agricultural sector.
-Awareness of the topics of climate change, agriculture & forestry.

Eligibility:
-U.S. citizen or legal resident.
-Fully vaccinated for Covid-19 prior to the start of their internship.
-A college graduate.
-Personal vehicle required.
