Position: Archaeological Technician Assistant

Description:
“Tetra Tech Disaster Recovery is currently seeking an Archaeological Technician Assistant. The selected applicant will provide assistance to SOI Professionals to perform field surveys of historic resources, prepare Section 106 documentation including Historic Resources Survey Reports & Assessment of Effects documents, & coordinate with state & federal resource agencies.”
Duties:
-Research data & draft archaeological descriptions.
-Assist with coordination of field teams working on field assignments.
-Provide assistance with archaeological field reconnaissance, excavate shovel tests, conduct pedestrian surveys, excavate test units, identify cultural artifacts & features, systematically record field information.
-Work with & regularly communicate with colleagues, take direction from supervisors & project managers.
-Write clearly & use a computer such as a field iPad for capturing field notes, communicating with co-workers & supervisors; among others.
Qualifications:
-BA in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related fields.
-2+ years of professional experience in cultural resource management.
-Familiarity with the National Historic Preservation Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, & requirements of other Federal regulatory agencies, & specific state guidelines.
-Experience composing archaeological descriptions & historic contexts for survey reports & preservation planning documents.
-Survey work requires skills in identifying cultural artifacts relating to a broad spectrum of cultural time periods.
-Hard-working, good-natured, capable of working with others, communicating with co-workers clearly, giving clear direction to field teams & taking direction from project managers & supervisors.
-Good physical condition, able to carry up to 35 lbs. while walking, possibly hiking, able to bend, lift relatively heavy loads, & tolerate some extreme weather; among others.
