Position: MS Research Assistantship – Pollinators and Floral Resources of Thornforest

Salary: Stipend of $18,000 per year

Description:

“The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is seeking a graduate student (MS) to participate in characterizing floral resources used by pollinators in Tamaulipan thornscrub, a threatened habitat in south Texas and northeastern Mexico. The project aims to inform future restoration efforts by studying pollinator preferences, floral resource availability, and phenology. The position includes fieldwork and the opportunity to participate in research activities in ongoing restoration projects.

Requirements:
– Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or related field; aptitude/interest for research; good communication skills; ability to work independently; prior experience in native plant communities, plant biology, and/or insect ecology preferred but not required; ability to conduct fieldwork occasionally under hot weather conditions; current, valid U.S. driver’s license and good driving record preferred.
