Position: Riparian and Wetland Crew Lead (2 positions)
Entity: Institute for Natural Resources (INR) in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM)
Location: Portland, OR (fieldwork in northeast California or central/southeastern Oregon)
Salary: $21.42 per hour, plus $480 per diem for food costs per hitch and lodging reimbursement up to $175 per hitch

Description:
“Lead a three-person crew collecting standardized data for the Riparian and Wetland Assessment, Inventory, and Monitoring (R&W AIM) strategy. The position requires extended fieldwork in remote, challenging environments. Duties include: Following AIM protocols for data collection. Managing field equipment and logistics. Supervising and collaborating with team members. Conducting fieldwork in all weather conditions, including rugged terrain.The season runs from May through August 2025, with mandatory paid training from May 5–10 in Carson City, NV. Fieldwork involves 8-day hitches followed by 6-day breaks.
Requirements:
– Bachelor’s degree (or current student) in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Hydrology, or a related field.
– Supervisory experience in professional, volunteer, or military settings.
– Experience managing gear and equipment.
– Familiarity with standardized sampling protocols, GPS navigation, data management, and Microsoft Office.
– Experience driving 4WD vehicles and camping in remote areas.
– Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
– CPR and First Aid certification (cost of courses reimbursable).
