FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Position: USDA Forest Service Regional Synthesis of Old Growth Forest Definitions and Characteristics Fellowship
Entity: U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)
Location: Columbia, MO; Rhinelander, WI; or remote eligible
Salary: $6,500 per month, with an additional health insurance stipend and funds for travel and supplies

Description:

“The fellowship involves modernizing the synthesis of available literature with data sets from existing studies and national inventory data to establish the state-of-knowledge on old growth forests in the USDA Forest Service Eastern Region. This includes: Quantitative summaries and minimum thresholds of old growth forest attributes by forest type, identifying key parameters defining mature and old growth systems & assessing the effectiveness of inventory and monitoring data.

Requirements:
– Must have earned or be pursuing a Doctoral degree in forestry, ecology, biology, geography, or a related field by the start of the appointment.
– Preferred skills include experience working with land management agencies, strong research and communication abilities, statistical analysis skills, and a publication record.
