“Naval Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) supports the Department of the Navy (DoN)’s Navy and Marine Corps education and outreach programs. Naval STEM programs are deliberate investments in the current and future DoN workforce, which enhance the Navy and Marine Corps’ ability to meet present and future war-fighting challenges.”
Student Opportunities:
-Naval Science Awards Program (NSAP): NSAP recognizes the accomplishments of eligible students at regional and state science and engineering fairs and the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in producing quality science and engineering projects.
-Junior Science and Humanities Symposia (JSHS) Program: JSHS aims to widen the pool of trained talent prepared to conduct research and development vital to our nation.
-Science and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (SEAP): Accepted students gain real-world, hands-on experience and research skills while being introduced to the Navy and Marine Corps science and technology environment.
-Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP): NREIP is a 10-week undergraduate and graduate research internship opportunity at one of nearly 30 naval laboratories or warfare centers.
-Science, Mathematics & Research for Transformation (SMART): SMART scholarship for service program is an opportunity for students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in STEM disciplines to receive a full scholarship and be gainfully employed upon degree completion.
-National Defense Science & Engineering Graduate (NDSEG): NDSEG provides fellowships to support study and research leading to doctoral degrees in science and technical areas.
