Position: Ph.D. Assistantship
Entities: UGA Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, Jones Center at Ichauway
Locations: Athens, GA, and Ichauway, GA
Start: Summer/Fall 2024
Description:
Ph.D. assistantship with the University of Georgia Warnell, Athens, and the Jones Center at Ichauway. Project led by Dr. Kamal Gandhi and Dr. Kier Klepzig, exploring pollinator ecology and plant networks in coastal and montane longleaf pine ecosystems. The ideal candidate will have field and lab experience in entomology, forestry, or ecology, a strong statistical background, and a passion for independent research.
Responsibilities:
– Conduct research in biologically diverse longleaf pine ecosystems.
– Collaborate with Dr. Gandhi and Dr. Klepzig on pollinator-plant networks.
– Develop, conduct, and publish independent research.
– Extensive fieldwork in longleaf pine forests is required.
Requirements:
– M.S. Degree in a related field (forest entomology, forestry, biology, or ecology).
– Field and lab experience related to entomology, forestry, or ecology.
– Strong statistical background.
– Independent spirit for research development and publication.
– Ability to conduct extensive fieldwork in Southeast U.S. longleaf pine forests.
